The California Wine Club

Ray and I were invited to experience The California Wine Club as typical gift recipients and then blog about our experience. We were gifted a 3-month Premier Club gift membership and received our first shipment of wine – two bottles we may never have chosen to try otherwise – just after we returned from Hawaii.

Neither Ray nor I are wine experts, by any means, but we like to enjoy a glass of quality wine from time to time. To be honest, the many varieties and types of wines is just a bit overwhelming. Not to mention, sommeliers can be a bit intimidating, as well, with talk of age, aromas, and hints of this or that.

Okay, I give you permission to laugh at me now

Seriously, though, one of the things I love about this particular wine club is that one of their goals is to take the “stuffy” out of wine. They hand-select some of the best artisan wines from real, working California wineries, making the enjoyment of imbibing the only thing left to do.

Listen to what we thought of our first California Wine Club shipment!

To correct Ray and myself, we received a 2008 “ZinMan” Zinfandel and a 2009 El Dorado Chardonnay. So, perhaps Ray and I enjoyed the first two bottles of our California Wine Club membership a bit too much, but I was excited to be reminded, after our little clip was recorded, that this month’s shipment was from a winery not far from where I grew up – in the Sierra Foothills.

Real California “mom and pop” wineries, just as promised!

Ray and I will be sure to share with you our thoughts on future shipments, but for now check out the The California Wine Club and The Boring Wine Guy on Facebook and follow @cawineclub and @boringwineguy on Twitter.

Ooh, and guess what? All of you can receive a special 10% discount when purchasing gifts from The California Wine Club, just in time for the Holidays! Be sure to use promo code datestodiapers when ordering.

If you would like to try out The California Wine Club, you can use the same promo code and not only will they take off 10% off your first month, but they will also send you an extra bottle of wine in your first month shipment as a special joining offer for being one of our friends.
