Mom of the Week – Amanda

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingThis week I would like to introduce you to Amanda — A lovely, and hard-working mommy of two beautiful little girls, and one of my blogging buddies.

Me: If you could choose one verse from the Bible to embrace as your “life motto,” what would it be, and why?
Amanda: My favorite verse in the bible is Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not onto your own understandings, in all your ways acknowledge him and he shall set your paths straight.” I really try to follow this proverb the best that I can. As a teenager I thought that my life needed to revolve around boys and dating, so I went to church, not to just find myself but also to find a relationship with God. I knew that with Him all things were possible, and that following year, while doing a Church choir practice, I met Patrick. I truly feel He brought Patrick into the church that day for me to meet him.

God has such a grand plan, doesn’t He? I love to hear how He brings a family together! Have you always wanted to be a mommy?

Yes, ever since I was a little girl I wanted to be a mother. I never dreamed that I would have my first child at 19, though. But I would never change it for the world. My Samantha has made me who I am today.

As a mommy myself, I know it’s hard to find “me” time. If you had one whole day to yourself how would you spend it?
A whole day by myself? HMM, I would LOVE to go and get a massage, my hair done, a manicure and pedicure, and of course a few hours at the gym. Then I’d go home and go sit in the spa and read a book. I’d probably sneak in some computer time as well/

Would you rather plan and cook a large meal, or create a scrumptious dessert from scratch?
I would want to plan and cook a large meal. I love to cook. I also love to bake, but lately I have really gotten into cooking.

If you could choose only two books to read to your girls, what would they be, and why?
First would be the Bible, and the second would be my favorite book growing up, “Love You Forever” by Robert Munsch (Author) and Sheila McGraw (Illustrator). I am sure everyone knows the main verse in the book “I’ll love you forever, I’ll love you for always, as long as I’m living my baby you’ll be.”

As moms we need to remember each other in prayer. How can we pray for you this week?
I have been having a hard time with my personal self, and needing the motivation to try and change myself for the better. There are a few things I am struggling with. One, of course, would be to loose weight, but I have never really put myself first and make myself happy, so I just have been feeling a bit depressed. I really need support and encouragement in any form. I don’t feel that I have the support from home with my journey to loose weight. I never really cared about doing it after I had the girls and then I realized that since having my girls I gained a lot of weight. It’s not me, and it has made me depressed. I also plan on going to school this summer to get my phlebotomy license. I also feel that I am falling in my faith, and just want to start reading my Scriptures more, and be closer to God.

Thank you so much, Amanda, for joining me today. I pray that you will be blessed this week as you live for Him, and raise your girls to shine!

I second that. Amanda is a great choice for the Mom of the Week!

She is friendly, sweet, and her love for God shows. It’s a real treat to visit her blog.

My girls have been the recipient of a couple of her bows and they absolutely love them. They are so adorably cute it makes me want some but an almost 40 year old woman with bows… not gonna happen. lol

    Keep on blogging Amanda!!
