We Caved…

The kids had begged and pleaded for a dog for probably as long as they could speak. They wanted a puppy, but we didn’t want the headache of training yet another “baby”. An older dog scared me, since there was no way to know his true history. Ray and I stalled. As long as we could.

Well… last weekend, while we were out shopping, we stumbled across a rescue shelter adoption. There were about half a dozen dogs available, mostly older dogs with no known background. But, everyone immediately feel in love with a young lab mix. It was love at first sight, as she warmed up to all of us, and we knew our family wouldn’t be complete without her.

Chianti joined our family and our dog-free days ended.

But the real fun has just begun.

Oh, honey. You got yourself a terrier something.

Jack Russell/Parson Russell + lab = Chianti. Pit bull + lab = Chianti. But I’m leaning toward Jack Russell cross.

The end result? You have now homed a super smart dog with a need to chew. Invest in KONG. Seriously. I’m lived nine years with a pit bull and the black KONGs are what you want to look for when you shop.

And a neighborhood obedience class has never hurt a dog or owner.

SO happy about your new addition to the family! You know where to find me if you need help. 😀
