I’m having a bit of a bloggy identity crisis!

It all stemmed from a comment I recently received…

I came across your blog in December and I’m trying to figure it out. Do you do mainly product reviews? I would love to hear more about your homeschooling program and family. Thanks.

Now, I have been blogging for about three years (I can hardly believe it’s been that long!) and it has been an outlet, for me – a way to express myself. I love to blog about my kiddos, life as a big family, how we do things, and the products and services that make family life fun. After that comment, though, I’m not so sure if I am blogging enough about what I love and am passionate about.

I would really like to know what you all think…. Am I balanced enough in my posting? Do I sound passionate and sincere, or am I just like all the other review blogs out there? Do I post too many giveaways and reviews? Do I talk enough about my family?

I know, I know, it’s my blog and I can do what I want. But, I would really like to know what you think – Do you visit and feel encouraged? Or, do you leave thinking that you wasted your time?

Will you help me figure out where to go from here, by taking my poll below? Every option is something that I touch on here at From Dates to Diapers, but feel free to enter a new one. What topics will make you want to come back for more? Your opinion means a lot to me!

Personal posts, that could be homeschooling or life with the kiddos. You write so well I just wish I heard more from you.

I’ll be honest I visit your site a lot, but I do get bored when I see the same post on top for a few days. I love coming heer and I would never stop I just think you’re busy. You need to post more and perosnal posts are always fun and easy!

But i do also like fun reviews and your reviews have always had their own style. So even if you did do a few reviews it totally wouldn’t bore me. I love your style.

I like the homeschooling and personal life angle. I set up a separate page (/reviews) for product reviews because I love to do them, but I didn’t want them clogging up my blog stream.

I am a new reader, but love what you do. I would like to know more about daily things, as that is what drew me in to begin with. But your tips and ideas are wonderful too.

I would like to know more about you too Chris…stuff that you do with your family, kid projects, how you deal with household stuff, kids, etc. Not that I don’t enjoy what you do already but I do love to see more personable sides to the bloggers I read:)

You’ll figure it out. GO WITH YOUR GUT! HA!…..yes, I say that all the time even though it totally is worthless. hehehe

I came via your Twitter link.
I had subscribed to learn about life with 6 kids and beyond.
To be brutally honest I unsubscribed a while ago because it just seemed to be reviews.
So, you should probably disregard this whole comment because I haven’t been here in a while.
Your new design is nice, but I miss seeing the pictures of you and the kids when I clicked through.
I enjoyed the videos you did.
Feel free to delete this comment.

    Great Question!

What about scheduling certain days for certain topics. Like Fridays will be Family Day stuff, Mon, Wed and Fri will be such and such.

Hey, I have NO idea. I love your blog no matter what! I’m just trying to help :)

p.s. I wanna see the photos we took at Disnyeland together 😉

I just found your blog a couple of weeks ago, but i have to admit that I was hoping for more life tips, money saving-ideas, homeschooling stories and not so much product review.

I think you do a great job balancing. Everyone is going to want something a little bit different from the next person. I think its good to ask for input. And then do what you want to do. 😉

I say follow your blog’s tagline. Right now it’s kinda at “Beyond”. I understand you trying to find balance especially when things are taking off for you, deadlines, email overload, etc. I’m working on the personal touch too because it seems those who were with us in the beginning have left the building…I’m learning how to say no so I do have some time to post a picture of my pumkin and give an update on him.

I want to hear it ALL. Serious. The good, the bad, the ugly, and the fabulous.

I have six, and I think to myself, almost every time “How does Christine do it, AND Homeschool?!?”

And even if you don’t do it successfully every day, cuz who does, really, that’s also good to know, too.

All of it. Every single last bit you’re willing to share about it, I know I’m willing. I’m sure others are, too.
